PERENNIALLY popular Peckham boy Steve Grey brings the curtain down on a successful summer season of top quality wrestling at the Pavilion Ballroom, Bournemouth on August 31.

Del Boy would probably have called him “my most favourite wrestler” as Steve, whose speciality is the surfboard submission, has consistently come out tops in fans’ popularity polls and has held every championship in the lightweight division – including world and European titles.

Tomorrow’s show holds extra significance for Steve as it will signal his return to the ring after a period on the sidelines with a serious back injury.

So keen to stay in touch with grappling was Grey, he has been officiating for top UK matchmakers Premier Promotions while fighting back to full fitness.

But it is the heat of the battle that he’s missed, and he faces a baptism of fire on his return when he clashes with Andy Boy Simmonz, who tangled with American TNA superstar Doug Williams on a recent Bournemouth spectacular.

The bout is a sequel to events at the Pavilion two weeks ago when the bombastic Simmonz was involved in an after-match set-to with Grey, who was refereeing the evening's contests.

Also billed is another modern-day ring legend, Johnny Kidd; while four stars of the summer season clash in a return tag team showdown as Bournemouth favourites Joel Redman, winner of the Rumblemania Trophy, and Nick Riley are gunning for revenge against he 40-stone duo of The Masked Emperor and Iron Hulk Karl Atlas.
