AS the storm of protest against the 440-home proposal for West Quay Road rages, Poole council is asking for views on the future of development in the borough.

The council is inviting residents to have their say on how big planning decisions are made in the future.

It is consulting on two important documents that set out its approach to development up to 2026.

The Poole Site Specific Allocations and Development Management Policies Development Plan Document (DPD) and Delivering Poole’s Infrastructure DPD form part of Poole’s Local Development Framework.

These planning documents will guide the development of homes and jobs across the borough, including how planning applications and infrastructure needs are assessed, and how future sites for development are identified.

Councillor Ron Parker, cabinet portfolio holder for the local economy, said: “Poole will experience significant change over the period to 2026. This is an important consultation that will help to identify sites, policies and the infrastructure required to manage this change appropriately to enable Poole to prosper.

“This consultation gives people the opportunity to have their say and we want as many people as possible to get involved.”

The consultation runs until Monday October 8.

The documents and accompanying summary can be viewed on the council’s website boroughofpoole.com, in any Poole library and at the planning and regeneration services reception at the Civic Centre.
