WORKERS at a Ferndown industrial estate had to be evacuated on Thursday morning (July 15) after a major gas leak.
Gas was said to be ‘pouring out’ of a high-pressure gas main near Enterprise Cleaning on Cobham Road.
Police, called to the scene at around 10.30am, blocked off access from the A31 and Wimborne Road West, and also closed Johnson Road and Telford Road.
By 10.38am, firefighters were on scene, evacuating businesses.
Staff from gas company Transco had isolated the valve to stop the leak, which could be heard up to 100 metres away, by 11am.
By 11.10am, all roadblocks were lifted, and people were allowed to return to their buildings.
