A LECTURER is celebrating after winning a top national award for the second time.

Adrian Martin, who lectures in hospitality and catering at Bournemouth and Poole College, won the innovative teaching award, given by the Professional Association for Catering Education.

The award recognised his invention of a game called Business Battleships, to help students apply economic factors to the culinary business world, including inflation, interest rates and exchange rates.

“Trying to teach economics to chefs isn’t an easy endeavour, so I turned the whole lesson into a competitive event” he said.

“This really got the chefs motivated and passionate about the effect these factors can have on the running of a business.”
