EIGHT people appeared in court yesterday accused of drugs offences following early morning raids mounted by police in the New Forest earlier this week.

The defendants, brought up individually before Southampton magistrates, were remanded in custody.

They were Ashley Brown, 27, of Buckingham Walk, New Milton, who faced three charges of supply; Thomas Georgeson, 55, of Danesbury Avenue, New Milton, on six charges of supply; Mark Gonnella, 29, of Lymington Road, New Milton, on six charges of being concerned in the supply and two of possession with intent to supply; Jody James, 29, of Ashlett Gardens, New Milton, on four charges of supply; |Luke Olding, 29, of Lymington Road, New Milton, on two charges of being concerned in an offer to supply; Jason Pollitt, 29, of Whitefield Road, New Milton, on nine charges of supply and seven of being concerned in their supply; Paul Smedley, 30, of Blackthorn Way, New Milton, on six charges of supply and four of being concerned in their supply; and Jenna Tooze, 25, of Blackthorn Way, New Milton, on three charges of supply.

All, except Smedley, had their cases adjourned until July 8 with committal proceedings set for July 30.

Smedley was committed to Southampton Crown Court where he will appear before a judge on a prison video link on August 24.

Six others have been bailed to appear before Lyndhurst magistrates tomorrow.

They have been named as Laura Crowhurst, 37, of Blackthorn Way, New Milton, who faces two charges of supply; Scott Adair, 38, of Whitefield Road, New Milton, on four charges of supply; Georgina Evans, 42, of Hedley Close, Fawley, on one of supply and one of being concerned in supply; Gemma Walsh, 21, of Whitefield Road, New Milton, on four of supply and one of being concerned in supply; Laura Pilly, 21, of Lymington Road, New Milton, on one charge of possession; and Robert Wilkinson, 40, of Bedaulieu Close, New Milton, on two charges of being concerned in supply.

Police raided a series of address as part of Operation Mercury in a combined initiative with the Safer New Forest Partnership.
