CHERRIES are in line for an unexpected cash windfall after their League One showdown with Brighton was selected to be televised live by Sky Sports.

The clash at the Withdean Stadium, which takes place on Saturday, October 9, will swell the Dean Court coffers to the tune of £10,000, confirmed a Football League spokesperson.

Brighton, as the home club, will receive a £30,000 broadcast fee, while kick-off has been switched from 3pm to 12.15pm.

Cherries starred when they last appeared on the small screen after Jeff Goulding’s last-gasp strike earned them a dramatic 2-2 draw at Notts County in March.

Meanwhile, former Millwall trainee Lyle Taylor will today link up with Cherries for the start of their pre-season campaign.

The 20-year-old striker has been invited back after impressing boss Eddie Howe and his management team when he trained with Cherries in April.

Taylor hit 23 league goals to help Concord Rangers clinch promotion from Ryman Division One North last season.

For the second year in succession, Howe’s men will kick-off their warm-up programme with a gruelling series of fitness tests at Southampton Solent University.

Under the watchful eye of Stewart Bruce-Low, senior lecturer in sport and exercise science, the players will undergo the VO2 max test, with the first group starting at around 7.30am.

<•>Midfielder Joe Partington, who is among the early-starters, has been named in the Wales under-21 squad for a friendly international against Malta in August.

The call-up means he will be unavailable for Cherries’ Carling Cup trip to Southampton during the second week of August.
