THE sun shone again for Winton Carnival on Saturday with thousands turning out to soak up the rays and party atmosphere.
Students, parents and staff from Glenmoor School and Winton Arts and Media College re-enacted the visit of Buffalo Bill’s Circus to Bournemouth in 1903 and a subsequent Wild West Show held in 1913 in the building that eventually became the old Continental Cinema in Wimborne Road.
The carnival procession passed within yards of the scene of the original Wild West Show, making its way along Cardigan and Maxwell Roads to Winton Recreation Ground, where there was live music, a fun fair and a variety of attractions.
Organiser Mel Bray said: “The crowds were three to four deep in Winton high street. We think there might be some magic attached to the carnival as, unlike Glastonbury, it always brings out the sun!”
