Ferndown fire engine was called to a large heath fire at 1.30am in West Moors this morning, Sunday.
They found an area 100m by 50m well ablaze and called for help from dozens of colleagues.
Light vehicles, water carriers and fire engines came from Verwood, Poole, Redhill, Blandford, Bere Regis, Hamworthy, Christchurch, Fordingbridge and Ringwood.
The fire was extinguished using water jets and beaters and declared under control at 6.01am.
Crews are still on scene.
