AFC Bournemouth is lining up big name support for a charity football match and fun day.

The event, expected to fill Dean Court on Sunday, July 18, will see a team of AFCB Legends take on a celebrity squad.

The celebrities will include boxers Joe Calzaghe and Nigel Benn, actor Danny Dyer, rugby star Martin Offiah and Manchester United and England hero Teddy Sheringham. AFCB Legends will include Eddie Howe, Jason Tindall, Ted MacDougall, Luther Blissett, Matty Holmes, Darren Anderton, Trevor Aylott and John Williams.

Cherries director of operations Adam Murry said: “We are going to confirm other big names closer to the day.”

The day’s events will raise money for children’s hospice Julia’s House and the Youth Cancer Trust.

As well as the football and a fundraising dinner in the evening, there will be bouncy castles, climbing wall, fast furious football, power strike, pony rides, assault course, fashion shows and more.

Players and celebrities will be mixing with the visitors and the day will finish with an evening gala dinner with live music and celebrity speakers.

Victoria Cross hero Johnson Beharry will present some of the prizes.

Mr Murry said: “I’m looking forward to meeting the families and the children from Julia’s House and the Youth Cancer Trust as special guests and giving them a chance to meet some of the celebrities and join them for a great day.”

Tickets to the main match cost £10 for adults and £5 for children.
