Work to mend a collapsed sewer in Bournemouth Road, Poole, has proved more complex than anticipated and the road is unlikely to re-open before Thursday.
The half-mile stretch between Pottery Junction and St Osmund's Road was closed at 6am on Saturday to through traffic, to allow Wessex Water to carry out the work.
They hoped to re-open it late on Monday but the excavations revealed another problem, which meant the road had to be dug to a greater depth.
