SANDBANKS has earned another title, though this one might be more unwelcome than others.
Poole’s Millionaires’ Row has, perhaps unsurprisingly, been named Britain’s least affordable seaside area.
The average house price – £544,951 – is almost 19 times that of the average salary.
Swanage also lands a place in the top 10 most expensive areas, with an average house price almost 10 times that of the average salary.
In comparison, the average house price in the least expensive town – Withernsea in Yorkshire – is just three times the average salary.
The survey was carried out by Halifax.
Martin Ellis, housing economist at Halifax, said: “Living on the coast offers many attractions, including a typically high quality of life and attractive surroundings.”
