Crazy kites: Saturday 1st – Monday 3rd

Weymouth's famous golden sands and magnificent Georgian seafront host this colourful, three-day Festival of aerial acrobats, giant sky sculptures, stunt and fighting kites and children’s workshops.

The Annual International Kite Festival on Weymouth Beach attracts more than 40,000 visitors to the Esplanade to watch the impressive kite flyers not only from Britain, but the United States of America, Germany and Spain.

A night at the opera: Saturday 1st

Morris for minors: Saturday 1st – Monday 3rd

Take the little ones along to May Day Fun at Old Wardour Castle, Shaftesbury, where they can join in a host of children’s games and hands-on acitvities, marvel at the castle decked out with flowers and see some real Morris dancers. Prices apply, but English Heritage members go free.

Partying: Sunday 2nd & Sunday 30th

Prepare for a party as the legendary That'll Be The Day, the UK's most successful touring rock 'n' roll production returns. Bringing back the good times with a combination of unique comedy routines mixed with back-to-back, non-stop classic-gold hits from the 1950s through to the 70s, the result is a show with a real party atmosphere. Living History: Sunday 2nd & Monday 3rd

Experience the sights, sounds and smells of times past as the Civil War Battle & Living History Encampment blast into action at Lulworth. Sir Thomas Tyldesley Regiment of Foote and hundreds of other members of the English Civil War Society bring the turbulent history of the 17th century to life with battle re-enactment, big gun firing displays and a village encampment in the park and crafts and music of the period in the Castle. The event is included in normal admission price, so take all the family. 10.30am to 6pm.

Saddling up: Sunday 2nd

The shorter rides are suitable for the younger or less experienced riders, including those on leading reins, also for young or less fit horses or ponies. All start from Knighton Dairy, opposite Knighton House School, Durweston. Refreshments and a suitable place for picnics are available.
