A BUS driver, who over a three year period sexually abused three girls, making one of them pregnant, has been locked up indefinitely for the public's protection.

Paul McGlynn, 40, pleaded guilty to five offences against one girl and was convicted of seven other offence against her and two others.

Southampton Crown Court heard how he began having unprotected sex with one girl when she was just 13 and when she fell pregnant by him two years later callously asked her “Who’s the father?”

The girl, from the Waterside area of Hampshire had an abortion.

“It is something that she will have to live with for the rest of her life,” remarked Judge Derwin Hope, who said he had no doubt he was also seeking to groom the other girls.

“You were in a position of trust and there was a major age difference between you and them.”

The judge branded McGlynn as a danger to young girls and was concerned that he still continued to deny the offences of which he had been convicted.

McGlynn, of Wimborne Road, Bournemouth, will serve at least six years behind bars before his case can be heard by the Parole Board and he will have to register with the police for life.

In mitigation, Keely Harvey submitted he did not represent a high risk to the community and denied grooming.

He was remorseful and after completing his sentence, he intended to move well away from the area.
