JERRAN Hart confirmed he’d like to line up in the National League again next year after almost single-handedly clinching the title for Buccaneers in Plymouth tonight.

The teenage star marked the end of only his second full season of speedway by producing a master class six-ride full maximum as Bournemouth Castle Cover completed a glorious league and cup double.

They may have lost 48-42 at the St Boniface Arena in front of the Dorset side’s jubilant travelling fans.

But Buccaneers’ play-off final success was never in any real doubt during the second leg as Devils struggled to make real inroads into Bournemouth’s commanding 28-point first-leg lead.

With Plymouth guest Adam Allott failing to impress, and only Seemond Stephens and Kyle Hughes hitting double figures, the biggest advantage they amassed last night was a six-point lead.

That was after heat 12 and by then ruthless Buccaneers had already sewn up the title, doing so comfortably with five races to spare.

Mark Baseby returned from injury to bag a brave seven paid eight, while Aaron Baseby notched seven.

But with Bournemouth skipper Jay Herne enduring a rare off-night, hitting only five, they were grateful Hart went through the card unbeaten following his club record-breaking 21-point haul on the same track in July.

Hart’s fabulous fourth-to-first burst in heat 13 illustrated his dominance.

Last out of the traps, he majestically swept outside three of the third tier’s leading stars, Hughes, Allott and Herne, on the first and second turns.

Then Hart stylishly held off Hughes’s attempted outside move on the fourth turn before going on to complete a magical triumph.

Hart made it six wins out of six, and 12 out of 12 in the final following his 18-point first leg haul, with a clinical tapes-to-flag victory over Stephens and Hughes again in the last race.

Looking back on his heat 13 heroics, Hart said: “I didn’t make the best of starts. Kyle outgated me off three.

“He kept going wider and wider but because he started his turn too early, he didn’t quite get to the dirt.

“There was a pretty small gap between the fence and him, but I got into the dirt he couldn’t, and then went wider on the third bend to keep him behind me.

“I had to hold my breath, but I had to pull it off.”

Hart has won 13 out of 13 races for Buccaneers at Plymouth this year, so what is it about the tight 216 metre circuit that brings the best out of him?

“I’m a really good gater. I’m sharp,” he said. “Throughout the winter I do a lot of concentration stuff, calming the nerves, relaxation.

“It pays off during the season because if you make starts, you win races, especially at Plymouth.”

Hart added: “It feels good to be in a team that has won something because I’ve never won anything before this season.

“All the Buccaneers have chipped in this year. It’s been awesome to do the double, the best season I’ve ever had with Bournemouth and Scunthorpe.”

Asked what his riding plans were for 2010, Hart said: “It depends on the rules drawn up at the AGM.

“I think I should stay on one more year in the National League.

“I’m not the top rider in the National. When I’m the top rider in the National, I’ll go up full time.

“Then hopefully I’ll become the top Premier rider and go into the Elite.”
