A RAPIST, who was caught after being captured on camera, yesterday pleaded guilty to the early morning sex attack in Bournemouth’s Lower Gardens.

Restaurant worker Rasuijon Kuchkarov from Uzbekistan pounced after his victim spurned his advances on July 12 this year.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was wearing fancy dress when he attempted to “chat her up” in Westover Road.

Both Kuchkarov, 21, and his victim, a local woman in her 20s who was on her way to get a taxi after attending a birthday party, were filmed just before the sex attack near the Pavilion.

Kuchkarov, who was living at Exeter Road in Bournemouth at the time of the rape, relied on a Russian interpreter to follow yesterday’s Bournemouth Crown Court proceedings.

Defending, Fern Russell said Kuchkarov’s victim had been a stranger to him but he had found her attractive, adding: “He walked with her, trying to chat her up. There is no suggestion that she give him any encouragement.

“He accepts that she tried to walk another way. He tried to hug and kiss her; she pulled back and both went to the ground. He accepts pinning her to the ground. She struggled and kicked him.”

Ms Russell told the court that her client was “incredibly anxious to know his fate”.

Following the rape, detectives released CCTV footage in a bid to track down Kuchkarov. His victim was wearing a distinctive blue and white nurse’s outfit when he struck at around 2am.

Video showed Kuchkarov approaching his victim on Westover Road, outside the Brasshouse, and crossing the road with her towards the Gardens.

Parts of the gardens were sealed off while forensic officers scoured the area for clues.

Kuchkarvov admitted rape but denied assaulting his victim causing her actual bodily harm on the same date.

Judge Roger Jarvis gave the prosecution a fortnight to consider Kuchkarov’s basis of plea before remanding him in custody and ordering him to register as a sex offender.

He added: “This is a very serious offence and the consequences to the defendant are potentially very serious indeed.”
