IN a departure from their usual style of concert, Milton bought in this ready-made revue about love in all its various phases, and it suited them down to the ground.

A combination of a lovely red-themed set and over 60 songs, ranging from Lipstick On Your Collar and Goodnight Sweetheart to I Love To Cry At Weddings and What I Did For Love, plus some very funny and pithy one-liners – not to mention a delicious fish and chip supper – made for an extremely enjoyable evening that was clearly enjoyed by an enthusiastic audience.

It was presumably a company decision to limit the numbers on stage to just 14, so many of the regular members were relegated to front-of-house duties, which seemed a real pity. However, under the direction of a production team comprising Jo Mansfield (director), Alistair Hume (musical director) and Kamya Rawstron Brake (choreographer), those 14 did themselves proud, dancing and singing with infectious enjoyment. There were some real gems during the evening, not least of which were Max White’s hysterically funny portrayals of men most of us would avoid at any cost and a gloriously comedic I Remember It Well from Syd Young and Suzanne Teather.
