A GRANDMOTHER has been killed by a cow in a freak accident.
Virginia Arnison-Newgass, 70, died from internal injuries as a result of the accident that happened as she tended cattle on her farm in Lockerley.
She and husband Michael had planned to retire after 40 years in farming.
But their dreams of handing over the herd had been stalled by a planning row.
Councillors had refused permission for the elderly couple to build a home for staff on their land.
Mr Arnison-Newgass warned councillors that a fatal accident could happen if they weren’t allowed to build the house for a stockman, who would help them look after their cattle.
