CLOSE family members of tragic Katarzyna Ryba have travelled to Bournemouth from their native Poland to learn more about her death.

They were in Court for the first appearance of the man accused of murdering the 26-year-old waitress.

Visibly distraught, they listened intently as Piotr Zasaba, 32, of Norwich Road, Bournemouth, confirmed his personal details to the court, through an interpreter.

No plea was taken and the case was adjourned until Wednesday October 15 for a preliminary hearing at Winchester Crown Court.

Miss Ryba, who worked at Sorridi restaurant in Compton Acres in Poole, the mother of a three-year-old girl, died in Poole Hospital’s accident and emergency unit in the early hours of Friday October 2.

She had been found, just after midnight, in the car park of her home address, April Court in Wellington Road, Bournemouth. It is believed she fell from the window of a second floor flat.

An inquest, opened and adjourned in Bournemouth on Tuesday, heard the cause of her death was a stab wound to the heart.

A card left at the scene by colleagues from the restaurant read: “What a tragic waste of a beautiful person, loving mum and friendly work colleague.” Another person wrote: “It will not be the same without your smiling face.”
