A FANCY dress reveller is fighting for his life after being found suffering from multiple head injuries behind a Bournemouth nightclub.

Detectives are unsure whether the 22-year-old Poole man’s injuries were caused accidentally or if he was the victim of a vicious attack.

He was discovered by a male passer-by, at the rear of Wiggle in Old Christchurch Road, just before 7 o’clock on Sunday morning.

A Dorset police spokesman said he had sustained “serious and multiple” head injuries. He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Poole hospital.

The man, who has not been identified, was later transferred to the neurological unit at Southampton hospital where his condition is described as “critical but stable.”

The victim had been at a fancy dress party in Meyrick Park the previous evening and was wearing a distinctive white fishnet sleeveless vest, a black sleeveless leather jacket, denim shorts, red motorcycle boots and black wig. He was caught on camera at about 1.30 on Sunday morning outside Walkabout in Old Christchurch Road.

The area was cordoned off while specialist scenes of crime investigators scoured the area for clues.

Det Insp Steve Thorpe from Bournemouth and Poole CID said: “I am keen to hear from anyone who saw this man in Bournemouth town centre during the early hours of Sunday.

“We need to establish whether his injuries were sustained in an accident or were the result of a deliberate act. All calls will be treated in the strictest confidence.”
