THE 2009 Dorset Food Week is a celebration of all things mouth-wateringly, sensually, irresistibly Dorset.

Now in its ninth year, it will run from Saturday, October 24 to Sunday, November 1.

During this year’s event make sure you find out about a once-in-a-lifetime competition to win a three night weekend break at the Clavell Tower in Kimmeridge with a special treat on the Friday night.

Visitors and locals are all invited to join in celebrating what Dorset has to offer.

In Dorchester you can join a herb walk to experience a different way of seeing the wild plants around us and discover their therapeutic and healing values.

Or visit The Fridge in the Tudor Arcade, Dorchester for free tastings every day.

In Bridport join the Highlands End holiday park for a firework display (weather permitting) and a disco, on Saturday, October 24, with hog roast supplied by Downhouse Farm in Eype.

In Sherborne take the children and join in the fun with a number of local businesses: Puddings & Pies, Reads Coffee, The Dorset Sweet Company and the Toy Box, who are inviting mothers and children to have a cup of coffee, taste a few biscuits and cakes, and sample some of the wide range of sweets on offer on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 9.30am-noon.

Or join Olives Et Al at its headquarters in Sturminster Newton on their Great Big HUGE Dorset Feast, on Saturday, October 24, from 9am until 5pm A week later, on October 31 the whole team will move to Poundbury, Dorchester to hold a second Great Big HUGE Dorset Feast at The Potting Shed, at Poundbury Garden Centre, 9am until 5pm.
