WOW, what a difference a day makes! You can tell that the summer season is over, on Sunday and through last week the seafront was packed with people enjoying the late sunshine, but last night it was almost deserted.

This reminded me of one of the reasons why I like commuting by bike in the winter more than summer; the peace and Zen like calmness of being able to cruise along for miles without seeing more than a handful of people is a very relaxing experience.

Not that I would recommend this to anyone else, if too many people decide to try it I might have to contend with crowds of people!!

Following my previous blog talking about cycle lanes it was interesting to see that the road markings on Sandbanks Road from Evening Hill to Shore Road are being repainted and new cycle lanes are being put in.

My first observation on using the new lane this morning is that it seems to push me a good two feet further into the road and seems to give the cars less room.

It also looks like there might be some reduced parking, but until the scheme is finished it’s difficult to tell. Are these a good or a bad thing? I would be interested to see what comments people have once the scheme is completed.
