TWO people were taken to hospital after a car was involved in a collision with a 42-tonne lorry in North Dorset on Monday (28).

Police, fire, and ambulance crews dashed to the scene of the collision on a section of the A354 between Milborne St Andrew and Puddletown at about 2.30pm.

Fire crews from Blandford and Dorchester cut two people from the wreckage of a silver Nissan Primera registered to a man from Verwood.

Both occupants of the vehicle were taken to Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester – one by land ambulance and the other by air ambulance.

The road was closed in both directions for several hours while emergency crews worked to free the casualties. A Dorset Police spokesman described their condition as “not life threatening”.

Highways experts cleared the road surface of fluid while recovery teams removed the car and the lorry from the carriageway.

The road was reopened at about 5.30pm.
