COUNCIL bosses in Bournemouth have suspended the entire Boredom Busters play scheme programme for the autumn after criticisms in a damning Ofsted report.
The Boscombe Chine scheme was suddenly shut down in August by inspectors, who at the time said the site did not meet the minimum requirements.
In the Ofsted officers’ report into that play scheme, which has now been published, a number of worrying safety concerns are cited.
The inspectors criticise staff supervision of children, first aid provision and organisation.
Catering for four to 12 year olds, the Boscombe Chine part of the programme was found to be “inadequate” in every single category.
A councillor has described the report’s findings as “appalling”.
Bournemouth council had been running the play scheme at a number of sites around the borough, including Townsend, Stourfield and Muscliff. Safety issues were raised by parents at two of these during the summer.
