POLICE are cracking down on vehicle crime after a spate of incidents involving vehicles on private driveways, commercial car parks, rural car parks and lay-bys.

PC Simon Walters, of the priority crime unit at Lyndhurst, said: “Thefts from motor vehicles account for a significant proportion of crime and fund criminals’ lifestyles.

“Simple measures can help reduce the likelihood of you becoming a victim.”

Motorists are reminded not to leave valuables in cars and to lock doors and close windows.

Any information about this type of crime should be reported to 0845 045 45 45 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
