THE stage might look like a weekly management meeting at an East End import-export firm, but boy can these blokes blow the cobwebs away.

Boosted to a ten-piece, local favourites Souled Out proved why their reputation as one of the best live acts around is growing ever stronger with a thoroughly enjoyable and rollicking two-part set that had a very busy Kyps dancing the night away.

Got a favourite classic soul song? Well, this lot probably covers it, but there’s so much more, from Eddie Floyd and Betty Wright to Van Morrison and the Stones, all done with genuine passion for the music and no little talent.

Sandy Murray’s soulful wail suits the music to a tee and with Joe Musker driving the band along behind the drum kit and the four-piece horns section blowing up a storm, it’s impossible to stand still as the likes of Higher And Higher, Sweet Soul Music, Soul Man and many more are punched out from the stage.

A cracking night and if you see them playing near you, don’t you dare miss them.
