TWO new mayors have been elected in East Dorset.

Cllr Queenie Comfort has been sworn in as the new mayor of Ferndown, while Cllr John Burden has taken the helm in Wimborne.

Cllr Comfort has chosen The Barrington Centre as her charity for the year and hopes to pursue projects including a play area for older children aged between 12 and 16.

Cllr Burden will be supporting the Priest House Museum and Gardens and the Friends of Victoria Hospital. The Minster town’s mayor is hoping to see progress on a community centre for the Leigh Park area.

Cllr Jean Read is the deputy mayor for Ferndown. Wimborne’s deputy mayor is Cllr Terry Wheeler.
