Summer Breeze on the Quay kick-starts the summer programme of events with its usual host of family fun, street entertainment, live bands and spectacular fireworks every Thursday in June and July from 7pm.

Rafael Nadal will get a bumper pay rise if he successfully defends his men’s singles title this year as both the men,s and women’s champions will walk off with £850,000, £100,000 an increase of 13.3 per cent on last year. A bit of A-list glamour - Helen Mirren Live At The Regent, Christchurch via satellite from The National Theatre, June 25

Catch ‘live’ performances from the National Theatre in London on to the Regent’s cinema screen, in this innovative pilot scheme. The season is launched with Nicholas Hytner’s production of Phedre by Jean Racine with Helen Mirren.

An evening of Midsummer Music at Exbury Gardens, June 27

Nicholas de Rothschild will open up Exbury Gardens for an evening of Midsummer Music in aid of youth charity Fairbridge and Friends of Children in Romania. Hatstand Opera will perform Vocal Vices and guests can picnic in the beautiful gardens. There’s also the opportunity to join a guided walk with the extraordinarily knowledgeable head gardener, John Anderson and for adventurous types, weather permitting, there will be tethered hot air balloon rides, offering views across Exbury, Beaulieu River and the Solent or across the New Forest and beyond.
