CLUBBERS and pubbers can feel reassured – the search is on again for Bournemouth’s Best Bar None.

The award for the best managed licensed premises were launched at last year’s overall winner, Bar So.

An impressive array of supporters invited more entrants after 24 venues were accredited in the inaugural event last year.

Chairman of town watch Alan Dove told the invited audience: “This is a tough industry and this is your chance to get involved and celebrate what you and your staff have achieved.”

Leader of the council Stephen MacLoughlin said: “By getting involved you are helping the town’s reputation.”

The awards assess criteria including health and safety, licensing, and codes of practice.

They are backed by the Daily Echo and news editor Andy Martin said afterwards: “We are delighted to be involved once again. We’re conscious of how important this sector is to the local economy, especially in these difficult times.”

Last year, O’Neills, the Opera House and Bar So/1812 collected the category awards for best pub, club and bar respectively.

There are two new categories this year; best community pub and best family dining venue.

The initiative is sponsored by the wine and spirit group, Diageo.

Entry opens on May 6 and applications are available from bournemouthtownwatch.co.uk. The awards are at Boscombe Opera House on September 16.
