A COOL-HEADED shop worker foiled a robbery at a Bournemouth supermarket despite being threatened at knifepoint.

The armed raider threatened to kill mother-of-two Feng Liu if she didn’t hand over takings from her till at the Feng Hua Chinese store at Withermoor Road, Winton.

But he fled empty handed after the 47-year-old pointed out a CCTV camera.

Yesterday, Feng was still recovering from shock following her terrifying ordeal at about 6.25pm on Monday.

She said: “It was very frightening; he said he would kill me if I didn’t give him the money, and I believed him.

“My husband and our four-year-old daughter were upstairs. There were two customers in the store but they didn’t realise what was going on until he took the knife out and ordered me to put money in a bag.

“My mind was a blank but I pointed to the security camera nearest the counter, telling him that we only had a small shop and very little money.”

Her husband Guan Lu Chen heard the commotion and came downstairs.

“My husband told me to give the man money but, before I could unlock the till, he was gone. What frightens me most is that he said he would be back. We locked the door and called the police.”

DC Steve May said: “This is a very serious incident and I am determined the bring the culprit to justice as soon as possible.

“Fortunately no-one was hurt and nothing was stolen.”

The would-be raider is white with a pale complexion, in his mid-20s and more than 6ft tall. He has a slim build, brown hair and brown eyes.

He was wearing a dark hat, blue jacket, blue trousers and a scarf pulled up over his face. The weapon used is believed to have been a kitchen knife.

Detectives have released an E-fit of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the attempted robbery.
