FROM the opening bars of Playing of Ball to the closing strains of Lullabies, this show was a delight.
Playing a selection of her favourite songs over the years, Rusby was on fine form and in good voice, backed up by her superb band.
Awkward Annie, Sir Eglamore, Old Man, Bitter Boy and the beautiful Planets all featured – but there wasn’t a weak song or a bum note over nearly two hours.
It’s hard to believe that Kate’s 35 now, with almost 20 years in the business behind her.
She looks so small and vulnerable on stage, you just want to cuddle her.
She’s said to be probably the best singer of folk music right now.
I wouldn’t necessarily agree.
Instead I’d say she is the best singer around... period.
