A Dorset country park has been praised for its "stunning" scenery, alongside having so many activities to do.

Moors Valley Country Park is located close to the border with Hampshire at Ashley Heath and has been officially operating since 1988.

What started out as a relatively modest outing in a lake, play area, visitor centre, golf course and steam railway quickly became very popular.

An additional 170 acres of land were purchased to allow for the expansion of the park, with many features being added over the years.

Here's all you need to know about what you can do on a trip to Moors Valley Country Park.

What can you do at Moors Valley Country Park?

On its website, Moors Valley describes itself as an "award-winning visitor attraction offering a host of outdoor activities for all ages".

There are miles of walking trails, cycle routes and dog-friendly trails, as well as two large adventure play areas.

Children have the opportunity to explore plenty of play structures and areas, including Woodland Rhapsody, Ants Nest, Snake Pit and Bewildernest.

These are all part of the Play Trail, which features 10 of these structures spaced out over the course of one mile.

Moors Valley is also the location of a Go Ape centre, which has three high ropes courses for families to try.

Guests can also embark on a mini-golf course and take a ride around the park on the Moors Valley Railway.

This is open daily between June and September, as well as on weekends and Dorset school holidays throughout the year.

Fishing is also permitted on the west bank of Moors Lake from June 16 to March 14, every day from 9am.

The park's rangers also organise fishing tuition for children in the summer holidays with experienced angling coaches.

Alongside all of that, there are talks and sessions held in the Ranger Den, laser tag sessions can be booked and a weekly Parkrun is held here on Saturdays.

One activity that has recently closed is the Tree Top Trail, which had been in operation for 35 years.

Moors Valley explained that due to the trail being made from wood, it has now reached the end of its lifespan.
