Nadia Greenmaidan, general manager at Heathland House, said: "We are proud to honour and support our veterans, recognising the sacrifices they have made.
"As we all rejoiced in the joy of Victory in Europe Day, the celebration was about more than remembrance; it was about enhancing the lives of our residents, bringing people together, creating joyful memories, and ensuring those who served feel valued, respected, and celebrated."
The party featured live music, wartime memorabilia, and storytelling from residents.
One attendee shared a childhood memory of listening to sirens as a child and taking shelter in a garden bunker during the war.
He recalled the sound of his mother’s knitting needles growing faster with anxiety as enemy planes passed overhead, slowing only once the danger had passed.
