Care home worker recognised with Mayor of Poole award

A dedicated care worker has been recognised for her positive impact on others.

Mirela Toma, activities lead at Elizabeth House care home in Poole, won the Individual Contribution Award at the Mayor of Poole’s awards ceremony, held at St James Church.

Councillor Mark Howell, Mayor of Poole, said: "I’ve visited Elizabeth House a few times over the past year and I am incredibly impressed by Mirela's enthusiasm for the role."

Ms Toma, who was joined at the ceremony by a resident and colleagues from the Care South-run home, said the award was an honour.

She said: "Helping our residents to have fun and keep enjoying their hobbies, while having the opportunity to try new things is something that brings me great joy.

"It’s a privilege to be part of such a wonderful team, and to share so many special moments with our residents."

Ms Toma leads a varied programme of activities, events, and community partnerships at the Poole care home, and has worked in several other roles with Care South over the past decade.

Donna Moss, home manager, praised her dedication and impact.

She said: "We are incredibly proud of Mirela whose caring nature, dedication and passion for our residents’ happiness shines through in everything she does."
