A road is set to be closed for more than four months.

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council has announced that Upton Road in Poole will be shut from Monday, October 6, 2025 until Friday, February 20, 2026, to allow for gas mains replacement works.

The closure will be in effect for all vehicles, with no parking, waiting, or loading/unloading allowed at any time.

This will affect the stretch of Upton Road from its junction with Pergin Crescent to its junction with Fleetsbridge roundabout.

Emergency services will have full access and property access will depend on site safety.

The council said that the arrangements may be changed or extended if the works overrun or if bad weather causes delays.

The restrictions could be in place for up to 18 months and could be further extended with the approval of the Secretary of State.

Residents and motorists are advised to follow the signed diversion routes.
