POOLE Bridge will have a lane closure in a couple of weeks' time to fix railing that was damaged in a crash.
The historic bridge was closed on Wednesday night into Thursday morning after a Hyundai Tucson had careered into the side of the bridge.
Nobody was arrested, but it had to be put in the upright position while experts analysed its safety.
Cllr Andy Hadley, BCP Council cabinet member for climate response, environment and energy, said: “Poole Bridge reopened this morning after a full structural assessment and necessary repair works and I’m grateful to the team for working so quickly to minimise disruption.
“There will be a short follow-up lane closure in a couple of weeks’ time to finish up repairs but I am assured the bridge is safe to use for all.”
No other vehicles were involved in the crash that happened at 6.15pm on Wednesday, March 12.
Dates when the lane will be closed are not known, but it’s understood it may not take more than a day to finish.
