POLICE stopped the theft of a horse box in Brockenhurst and found a stolen van that had false plates.
The district policing team at Lyndhurst police station was called out to Roundhills Campsire in Brockenhurst on July 9.
It received reports of an attempt of a stolen horse box and found the silver Ford van used in the attempt had been stolen from Dorset in May.
A spokesperson for New Forest Heart Police said: "This afternoon they were called to the attempted theft of a horse box on the Roundhills Camp Site just outside Brockenhurst.
"When they arrived they found a silver van that was being used in the attempt – checks on that van found that it was stolen in Dorset in May and was on false plates.
"The van has been recovered and the horse box has been returned to its owner."
