DORSET'S care homes are hosting sports days for the community ahead of the upcoming Olympic Games.
Ferndown Manor in Golf Links Road, offers a taste of Paris on July 23 between 2pm to 4pm, while The Potteries in York Road, invites you to enjoy a day of fun on July 25, from 2pm to 4pm.
These events are part of The Big Care UK Sports Day, with more than 130 UK care homes involved to showcase authentic care home life.
Visitors can compete for medals in fun games like egg-and-spoon races and tug of war.
Zita Turner, home manager at The Potteries, said: "We’re delighted to be welcoming the local community to join our own sporting celebrations.
"Ms Turner added that days like this are perfect for bringing everyone together and celebrating this year's summer of sport.
Sara Muslin, home manager at Ferndown Manor, said: "The day not only promises a lot of laughter and enjoyment for all involved but also is an excellent way for residents to meet and mingle with lots of new faces – and some familiar ones – while keeping active.
"We can’t wait until kick-off."
Both homes provide full-time residential care, nursing care, dementia care and respite care and also boast plenty of space.
