Celebrating fifty years in the music business, legendary singer-songwriter, Kenny Rogers is heading for Bournemouth next spring on his 2009 UK tour.

The BIC concert on April 4 is certain to include classic tracks such as Lady, Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town, The Gambler, She Believes in Me, Islands in the Stream, We've Got Tonight and Buy Me A Rose.

Theoretically a country singer, Rogers universal appeal has seen him cross various music genres and top both the country and pop charts.

With his lush, easy listening productions and smooth croons, Rogers showed that country stars could conquer the pop audience.

Today Kenny Rogers has become such an icon it's easy to forget how he got there. Having recorded more than 65 albums which have sold over 100 million records worldwide, in America Rogers is a legend in the same league as The Beatles, Elton John and Elvis Presley.

For five decades, he has delivered memorable songs, drawing fans among rock, pop, soul and country audiences. When one singer makes such an indelible mark, that's not mere luck or even simple talent.

As Rogers says himself: "I really, really love what I'm doing. People survive longer if they love what they're doing. Because you just don't quit."
