A POPULAR pizza restaurant has rolled out a new summer menu and invited me to have a taste.

Prezzo has launched its new menu in its south coast restaurants, including Bournemouth, Lymington and Weymouth.

When we arrived at the Prezzo at Westover Road, we were greeted by helpful, happy staff who seated us and presented the new extensive menu.

The menu featured a brand-new pizza base, pinsa, and three new pizzas; mushroom, burrata, and truffle, chicken and roasted peppers and a smoky tre carni.

The new pinsa base was cloud-like, airy and scattered with delicious toppings.

Prezzo has also re-introduced the pizzetta, which is served with a side salad, a great option for a light lunch.

All the pizzas on Prezzo’s menu can be substituted for the smaller pizzetta option.

Other new menu items include the tuna pesto pizza, a white béchamel sauce, a courgette and black olive pizza, mortadella mushroom pizza and the marinara pizza, a perfect option for vegans.

Last but not least, Prezzo has introduced the calabrese calzone, a calzone filled with smoky pork sausage crumbs, spicy ‘nduja, mozzarella and calabrese tomato sauce.

For a starter, we enjoyed the new earthy mushroom and mascarpone arancini, packed with flavour and a fresh garlic dip.

My personal favourite starter was crispy fried mozzarella served with a rich tomato dip. The tangy sauce paired perfectly with the salty cheese.

For a main, I dug into the new courgette and black olive pizza which was light and crispy, with a savoury olive tapenade, topped with chargrilled courgettes.

To wash it down, we sipped on summery blood orange margaritas, a classic margarita with AquaRiva Blanco tequila and a fruity blood orange twist - a perfect fruity fix.

By this point, we were absolutely stuffed and had no room for pudding, despite Prezzo launching an array of new gelatos and sorbets in flavours including vanilla, mango, chocolate, and raspberry.

Alongside these were a variety of sweet treats such as tiramisu, Sicilian lemon meringue pie, and Lotus Biscoff cheesecake with banana.

Prezzo’s menu is reasonably priced, with mains ranging from around £10 to £18 - a great restaurant for a tasty meal.
