A MAN has died and two men have been arrested following a crash in north Dorset.

Dorset Police were alerted to a collision on the A350 Main Road near Compton Abbas at 7.46pm on June 6.

The crash involved a silver Audi TT Quattro, a grey BMW 218I, and a pedestrian.

The road was temporarily closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.

A man in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene, his family has been informed.

A passenger from the Audi – a man aged in his 20s – was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were not believed to be serious.

A 19-year-old man from Shaftesbury and a man aged in his 20s from Mere in Wiltshire have been arrested on suspicion of driving offences.

Road closures remain in place at the scene while an examination of the crash is carried out.

Sergeant Mike Burt, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and the loved ones of the man who very sadly died in this collision.

“We are carrying out a full investigation to establish the circumstances of the collision and I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage, to please make contact with us.

“I would also like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures. These are absolutely necessary to allow for a thorough examination of the collision scene to be conducted.”
