A ‘SUSPICIOUS’ man has been terrorising residents in Bournemouth by offering cleaning services then returning in the early hours to ‘watch them from afar’.

Police are warning the neighbourhood to be cautious of door-to-door services after multiple reports from concerned residents.

Nicola, who does not wish to be fully identified, said on Monday, May 27, a man was cleaning a neighbour’s guttering and offered to do hers.

After completing the job, he identified a hole in the roof, which was repaired, before pointing out a problem with her tiles.

They arranged for him to return the following Wednesday to fix the issue but he did not show.

At around 1am, on Friday, May 31, Nicola’s husband spotted the man “snooping” around their driveway and quietly knocking on their door.

He saw the man then do the same with a neighbour’s property.

“At some point he left, and we could not sleep very well,” said Nicola.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “At 11.16am on Monday 3 June 2024 we received a report of a suspicious incident in Sunnyhill Road in Bournemouth.

“It is reported that at around 12.50am on Friday 31 May 2024, a man was knocking on the doors of various properties in the area and appeared to be watching them from a distance.

“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing. No arrests have been made.”

Another resident, Bianca, who does not wish to be fully identified, said a man recently offered to clean her guttering.

When she asked for the man’s number he refused and said he would post it through her letter box the following day.

On Friday, May 24, Bianca was working in her upstairs office when she spotted a man on a ladder, “peering” into her window.

He waved at her and began climbing onto her roof saying that he was there for their agreed job.

When she asked him to leave, he reportedly became aggressive and began to swear at her while continuously ringing her doorbell.

“Ever since that night I have been a bit shake up,” said Bianca.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “At 9.45am on Monday 27 May 2024, we received a report that a man had behaved aggressively outside an address in Corhampton Road in Bournemouth.

“This reportedly occurred between 12pm and 1pm on Friday 24 May 2024.

“It was reported that the man argued with the homeowner about arrangements to carry out maintenance on the property.

“The man left the area shortly after the incident but reportedly returned at around 7pm to apologise.

“Enquiries into this matter are ongoing. No arrests have been made.”

Boscombe Neighbourhood Policing Team have since posted a warning on its social media of “a suspicious male offering door-to-door guttering and window cleaning services in the area of Sunnyhill Road”.

The team said: “Once he has completed the work, he has then returned to the same addresses in the very early hours of the morning and has knocked on the resident’s doors for no apparent reason, which they have found distressing and extremely suspicious.

“Please be mindful when accepting offers from door-to-door services and where possible please use reputable businesses.
