A MAN and woman have been arrested after they fled from police in Poole and assaulted an officer.
Dorset Police were called to Blandford Road at 8.45am on June 1 after reports of the man and woman making off on foot when their vehicle was stopped by officers.
Police searched the area and found the pair nearby a short time later, where they were detained.
It was reported that during the incident an officer was assaulted, although he did not sustain any serious injuries.
A 23-year-old man from Poole was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and obstructing or resisting a constable in the execution of their duty.
A 23-year-old woman from Poole was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and assaulting an emergency worker.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 8.45am that a man and woman had made off on foot after a vehicle was stopped by officers in Blandford Road in Poole.
“Searches were carried out in the area and a man and woman were located nearby a short time later and were detained.
“It was reported that during the incident an officer was assaulted. He did not sustain any serious injuries.
“A 23-year-old man from Poole has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and obstructing or resisting a constable in the execution of their duty.
“A 23-year old woman from Poole has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences and assaulting an emergency worker.”
