A COSY seaside tavern boasting a new renovation and summer menu - The Haven House Inn is Pub of The Week.

Situated at the very end of Mudeford Quay, the charming building is described as ‘the perfect pub.’

The venue offers three experiences in one: a café, a gift shop, and a pub, all housed within the same building.

Ed Turner took over The Haven Inn in 2023 to' refresh it and bring it up to date.’

Ed said: “We are a seaside pub where you can enjoy good food and a really good pint of beer and locals telling stories, which is what it’s all about.

“At the end of the day, it is a bloody good pub."

Bournemouth Echo: Inside the pub

Sustainability is a priority at The Haven House Inn. During the renovation, the picnic benches at the front of the pub were modernised using recycled plastic.

Ed said: “The outside seating was very old and decrepit, so we replaced them using recycled plastic from a local company in Christchurch.

“They calculated so far; we’ve used the equivalent of 175,000 plastic coke bottles.”

The pub also supports local businesses by sourcing the majority of their food locally.

Ed said: “We try to reduce our delivery miles where possible. We have a local fishmonger and butcher, and our coffee comes from Southampton.”

It is believed there has been an alehouse in the Quay since as early as 1699. The tavern nods to its rich history and is decorated with old photographs of Mudeford and sailing boats.

A wide selection of local ales, beers, and wines is available, which guests can enjoy inside or in The Haven Inn's large outdoor space - accompanied by ‘the most amazing views across Avon Beach to the Isle of Wight, Hengistbury Head, and Christchurch Harbour.

This pub hosts a variety of fundraising events, including an RNLI carol concert, a local community quiz night, the blue light day for the emergency services and summer fun day.

Ed added: “A traditional pub is a quintessential part of being British. There is always such a lovely buzz of the community here.

“We have a really good team, who spend our days trying to make people happy - what’s not to love.”
