TRAVELLERS have set up an unauthorised encampment in a public park in Boscombe.

The group was seen setting up encampment in Kings Park at around 8pm on Monday, May 20.

The travellers had previously been seen setting up camp in Throop before being moved on by authorities.

Dorset Police confirmed it has attended the site and is liaising with those present.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We received a report at 7.53pm on Wednesday 22 May 2024 of an unauthorised encampment in Kings Park in Bournemouth.

“Officers have attended the site and are liaising with those present as well as the local authority.

“We will continue to monitor the situation and work with our local partners and will take appropriate further action if required.”

A BCP Council spokesperson said:

"We have been made aware of an unauthorised encampment at Kings Park in Bournemouth.

"BCP Council staff will be visiting site to carry out the statutory welfare and educational needs assessment, along with any necessary risk assessments in order to determine the level of support to be given to the group."
