AROUND 50 people eagerly waited for the opening of Krispy Kreme in Bournemouth town centre.

The new store welcomed customers from 9am on Thursday, May 23, with a special ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the moment.

Krispy Kreme describes itself as “one of the most beloved and well-known sweet treat brands in the world”.

Founded in North Carolina, USA, in 1937, Krispy Kreme in Dorset has so far only been available from small kiosk selling points in supermarkets.

Gift tote bags were also handed out to the first 12 customers.

The bags included a pair of headphones, a badge, and a mug along with other goodies from the franchise.

He said: “I couldn't sleep. So I realised I may as well be waiting here as opposed to waiting in my house.

“I’m really excited for the store, I especially like their vegan doughnuts, they’re my favourite. It’s good that they are branching out and doing those flavours.”
