A MAN has been arrested for multiple traffic offences after he was suspected of drink driving and tried to escape when pulled over by police.

The man was pulled over at around 1am on May 22 in Bournemouth town centre.

Two officers from Bournemouth police were informed of the driver before he drove past them.

This led to the officers pulling over the vehicle, however, the man drove away before officers could speak to him.

A spokesperson for Bournemouth Police said: "Last night C squad were on night shift patrol dealing with incidents across BCP, at around 1am a report came in to our control centre about a possible drunk driver in the area of Central Bournemouth.

"PC Lewis and PC Tom were on mobile patrol around West Cliff Road when the reported vehicle was seen driving past them, police officers attempted to pull the vehicle over but once officers exited the patrol car to speak with the subject vehicle had made off from police.

"After an area search in Westbourne, the vehicle was located again on Lindsay Road,  with assistance from our road policing unit the vehicle was stopped safely using pre-emptive stop and two males were detained.
