THUNDERSTORMS and heavy rain may cause disruption across Dorset, the Met Office has warned.

A yellow weather warning has been issued for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole throughout Wednesday, May 22.

Expect spray and sudden flooding, which could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

Where flooding or lighting strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “While many places will remain dry, scattered showers are expected through Wednesday.

“Where these develop, they are likely to be heavy at times, with a risk of hail and thunder.  “A few places may see 10-20mm in 1hr and perhaps 30-40mm in 2-3 hours.”

There is a ‘slight chance’ that power cuts could occur and other services to homes and businesses could be lost.
