SANDBANKS’ Saltwater Sauna is extending its current site and establishing two new saunas with changing rooms on Avon Beach in Christchurch.
Due to happen in the autumn, the sauna has also recruited Britain’s first ever Thermalist instructor.
Thermalist uses science-based cold and heat therapy to reduce stress, improve sleep and optimise performance.
A growing number of studies has shown regular sauna use is associated with reduced risk of cardiovascular disease and alzheimers as well as lowering blood pressure and reducing cholesterol.

Instructor Jane Witt, 47, left the army after 23 years last year as a lieutenant colonel in the Royal Corps of Signals to work as the sauna master in Sandbanks.
She believes introducing people to saunas and cold water as well as educating people can have a big impact on people’s lives.
Within her first week at the sauna, Jane secured her first clients who are keen to adopt the protocols working with her on their individual physical health journeys.
Jane also has plans to bring the education on the protocols to residents this summer with programmes specifically aimed to aid with heat and cold adaptation over the autumn.

Bournemouth-born Jane said: “I am thrilled to have become the first Thermalist instructor here in the UK, and among the first few even in the world.
“Dr Susanna Søberg’s Thermalist instructor education has given me the tools to work with people in the heat and the cold to naturally improve their physical and mental well-being, especially those with chronic stress, burnout and inflammatory diseases.
“The combination of heat and cold can be so powerful in helping people live well and I’m excited to be doing so from our fabulous home at The Saltwater Sauna, Sandbanks.”
Arlene Glyn-Jones, co-founder of the Saltwater Sauna, added: "As a Finn living in the UK, having Jane on our team fills me with immense joy.
“Jane's wealth of experience and dedication to the Thermalist approach make her an invaluable part of our mission to promote holistic wellness and authentic sauna culture.
“We couldn't be happier to have her leading the way in bringing the Thermalist approach to the UK and beyond”.
“We're thrilled to announce our expansion plans, which include extending our current site in Sandbanks and establishing two new saunas with changing rooms on Avon Beach in Christchurch.
“These expansions will provide our customers with more opportunities to experience Nordic bathing on some of the best beaches in the UK”.
