A JUNCTION in Ferndown has been closed as a safety measure while a gas leak is investigated.
Engineers for gas company SGN have been investigating a gas leak in Linden Road, West Parley Ferndown since April 23 and have identified the source of the leak.
The work has been estimated to finish May 29 with repairs carried out to a low-pressure gas main at the junction of Linden and Dudsbury Road which has led to the junction being closed and temporary traffic lights put in place.
A spokesperson for SGN said: "We need to dig close to a high-pressure gas pipe running along Dudsbury Road to make our repairs and we're arranging for a specialist engineer to be present on site for the excavation work.
"We are carrying out regular site checks to monitor the gas readings which are at a safe level. We would like to reassure people that our gas network remains safe and you can continue to use your gas supply as normal.
"For everyone’s safety, Linden Road remains closed at its junction with Dudsbury Road and two-way temporary traffic lights are in place on Dudsbury Road. A signed diversion route is in place for drivers.
"We estimate this work should be completed by Wednesday 29 May. We apologise for any disruption and would like to thank anyone affected for your patience while we carry out this urgent work."
