DESPITE being taken more than a century ago, FGO Stuart’s pictures are still loved to this day.
Francis Godolphin Osbourne Stuart, Southampton based photographer and publisher of postcards, was born in 1843 in Braemar, Scotland.
Stuart moved to Southampton in around 1882.
From 1901 onwards he applied his photographic skills to produce postcards.
His pictures were mainly shot in Southampton but included other parts of Hampshire and the South Coast.
These images were all taken by Stuart in Southbourne and made into postcards.
FGO Stuart died in 1923.
